Caribbean Premier League 2023: Brandon King Plays The Captains Knock of 67 runs
In the 7th match of Caribbean Premier League 2023, Jamaica Tallawahs went on to perform really well, in both bowling and batting. They won the match by 8 wickets, that is definitely a big gap in the T20 format. However, it was not Brandon King who won the player of the match award. That is because his teammate Salman Irshad went on to bowl a phenomenal T20 spell. But chasing the target in T20 is not an easy task especially when the opponent’s bowling is brilliant. Brandon King was the spearhead in chasing the target. He went on to score a brilliant 67 runs on only 33 balls.

Contribution of Brandon King
Salman Irshad certainly bowled brilliantly well, but still, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots were able to score a total of 156 runs. It was important for the batting side to score well, at a quick rate, only then this target was possible to achieve. That is exactly what Brandon King did.
- The mammoth target of 157 runs was waiting for Jamaica Tallawahs. The captain Brandon King took the command and went on to score 67 runs on only 33 balls.
- He formed partnerships with all the batters who came out to bat for the team.
- The opening stand was 52 runs, and the second-wicket partnership took the score to 121 runs.
- The 3rd wicket opening stand between Shamarh Brooks and Amir Jangoo ensured that both players went on to finish the run chase without breaking the partnership.
- Even by the time Brandon King got out, the score of the team was already 121 runs, and the win for his team was quite definite by then.
The batting stats of King in the match
- Runs – 67
- Balls – 33
- 4s – 7
- 6s – 4
- Strike Rate – 203.03
These are certainly brilliant numbers for a batter in a series. This inning has made Brandon King the top scorer of the Caribbean Premier League 2023. He has performed with 74 runs average till now in the tournament. It’ll be interesting to see if he’ll be able to continue the same form or not.
