Border-Gavaskar Trophy : Alex Carey slammed this Aussie legend for this reason! Find out

Allan Border’s comments on Australia’s soft display was not welcomed by Alex Carey

After an embarrassing loss in the first test of the 2023 edition of Border-Gavaskar trophy, Australia are preparing to make amends in the 2nd test scheduled to start from 17th February at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Baggy greens suffered a loss by an innings and 132 runs.

Since then, the Aussies have been subject to a lot of criticism and backlash which includes the likes of former Australian legends. One of the former players who has discarded the attitude and performance of the players was Allan Border. Often regarded as one of the short-tempered captains, Mr. Grumpy was not a fan of the Kangaroos’ politeness.

Allan Border made a prediction in favor of the visitors and said that Australia will come out on top by a margin of 2-1. However, Australia’s soft display was not something that Border liked. During the match, Batsman Steve Smith was seen showing thumbs up to Ravindra Jadeja as a token of appreciation for the left-handed spinner.

To that, Allan Border said :- “Play with a harder edge. I mean, we’re giving blokes the thumbs up when they’re beating us outside the off stump. What the hell is going on? That is just ridiculous. Don’t go stupid, but Australia play hard nose cricket. We’re even giving someone thumbs up bloody hell.”

Meanwhile, Wicket-keeper Batsman Alex Carey who scored 36 and 10 in both Innings, came out lashing against Allan Border’s comments –

“We highly respect Allan Border. I guess among the group, guys do it differently. We come up against these players a lot. You’re probably alluding to the Steve Smith comment more than any but, you know, he’s mates with a lot of them. And that’s the way he plays. He does it in all situations. He plays around with his hands and does all that stuff. And I think that’s probably what gets him pretty focused.”
