BCCI Invites Vishwanathan Anand And Magnus Carlsen To Ring The Bell At Eden Gardens

India and Bangladesh are set to play their first-ever day-night test match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata and the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is leaving no stone unturned in making the pink ball test a blockbuster.

A number of dignitaries including the sports superstars Sachin Tendulkar, Sania Mirza, PV Sindhu, Mary Kom and the Bangladesh Prime minister Sheikh Hasina will be in the stadium on the opening day of the game.

Apart from the above mentioned personalities, BCCI has also invited the current world chess champion Magnus Carlson and the Indian legend Vishwanathan Anand to ring the bell one one of the five days of the game.

According to the sources in the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Magnus Carlsen is yet to respond to the invitation due to his involvement in the Tata Steel Chess India- Rapid & Blitz 2019, but Vishwanathan Anand has accepted the offer.

“The BCCI has invited Carlsen to ring the Eden bell and if time permits, he along with Anand will be seen at the stadium in one of the five days,” Jeet Banerjee, the director of Gameplan Sports, the official sponsors and branding partner of the Grand Chess tour.” A BCCI source was quoted saying by CricketNext.

It has also been reported that BCCI is planning to felicitate the players who took part in the first ever test match played by Bangladesh.

Bangladesh played their first ever test match against India only and it took place at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka from 10th to 13th of November, 2000. Incidentally, that Indian team was led by none other than Ganguly himself.

Bangladesh have to play a 3-match T20I series and 2-match test series on the India tour. While, the T20I series is in progress right now with both teams levelled having won one game each, the test series will kick off from 14th of November.
