RCB team sad

Bad news for RCB, playoff dream may shatter in the match against CSK!

The IPL 2024 is now reaching its final stage and the last few matches of the league stage are yet to be played. So far, only Kolkata Knight Riders have made it to the playoffs, while the fight is on for the other three places between teams which also includes RCB.

The name of Royal Challengers Bangalore is also included in the race for the playoff in the tournament. They did not perform well in the first phase but made a strong comeback in the second phase and has registered five consecutive wins so far.

Now their eyes will be on its next match, which is against Chennai Super Kings on May 18 and RCB’s victory in this match is very important to keep the hopes of going to the playoffs alive. However, bad news has emerged before this match and there is a possibility that rain may cause disruption.

Current position in the points table of Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Bengaluru team is at fifth position in the points table and has 12 points with 6 wins in 13 matches. At the same time, its net run rate is +0.387, which is better than many teams. To go to the playoffs, RCB will have to somehow reach 14 points and for this they will have to defeat Chennai Super Kings at any cost.

Rain can disrupt RCB’s plan

There is no good news for Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are running in great rhythm, regarding the match on coming Saturday. Actually, according to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain on May 18. Faf du Plessis’s team’s game will get spoiled if the match is canceled due to rain.

Now, if the match is canceled due to rain, then RCB will get only 1 point and its total will be only 13 points, whereas at present four teams have scored 14 or more points.

In such a situation, nothing less than victory will suffice for the Bengaluru team. However, in case of cancellation of the match, Chennai Super Kings will have 15 points and will then have to depend on the results of the matches between Lucknow SuperGiants and Sunrisers Hyderabad for the playoffs.

Additional trouble for RCB

Difficulties do not seem to be subsiding for RCB. Royal Challengers Bangalore have another big concern. Before the T20 World Cup, the England cricket team has to play a series for which the ECB has called back the England players from IPL 2024.

The England player had already left India overnight and this is the reason why Will Jacks, who was performing brilliantly for RCB, also had to go back.

Now to qualify for the world cup, RCB would hope that their match against CSK will happen without the interruption of rain. At the same time, to win this match, they also have to think about the replacement of Wil Jacks in playing XI.
