B Sai Sudarshan is one of the talents to look out for in Indian cricket. Sai Sudarshan, the native of Tamil Nadu, is a southpaw and leg break bowler and has represented an array of teams in the shortest format of the game. He has represented Tamil Nadu at the state level whereas he has featured for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, Chepauk Super Gillies and Lyca Kovai Kings in the Tamil Nadu domestic league.
Early Life & Journey:
- Sai Sudarshan was born on 15th October 2001 in Tamil Nadu. The southpaw was born in a sports family. His father, R Bhardwaj is a South Asian Games representative whereas his mother, Usha Bharadwaj is a volleyball player. Growing in a sports family, the player had the natural inclination towards cricket.
B Sai Sudarshan had the passion for the sport since his school days in Chennai. He got into the U-19 side of the Tamil Nadu cricket division and started making it to the headlines. Before the pandemic struck, in 2019/20 Raja of Palayampatti Shield, B Sai Sudarshan was the leading run scorer of the competition with 635 runs. While representing Alwarpet CC, he amassed runs at an average of 52.92.
Following this tournament, he had grabbed the eyeballs and even the Indian team regular, Ravichandran Ashwin had tweeted about the youngster and his immense potential. He went on to make the Tamil Nadu squad for 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Making his debut on 4th November 2021, he played a quickfire innings that helped Tamil Nadu to post a good target. B Sai Sudarshan made his T20 debut for Tamil Nadu in November 2021. Though Tamil Nadu had got a moderate start to the innings, they were not yet having the run rate that would take them beyond a par score. After the fall of the first wicket, B Sai Sudarshan arrived at the stage and owned it. He scored a quickfire 35 from 19 deliveries before getting dismissed. This innings helped the side to post a target of 167 and win it against Maharashtra. In 18 T20 games, Sai Sudarshan has scored 497 runs at an average of 33.13 and a strike rate of 122.41.

Following the fine form in Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament, B Sai Sudarshan got a break in Vijay Hazare Trophy too. He made his domestic ODI debut against Mumbai in December 2021. Sai Sudarshan was promoted in the batting order and was sent to open the innings. Though he could not get the start that he would have wished on his debut, Sai Sudarshan scored 24 runs from 24 deliveries. In his domestic ODI career, he has amassed 664 runs from 11 games at an astonishing average of 60.36. He has three centuries and two fifties to his name. The 21-year-old is carving out a name for himself in the domestic line up of Tamil Nadu.
The player made his Ranji debut against Hyderabad in January 2022 and he made his debut so big that no one can forget. Opening the batting, B Sai Sudarshan garnered 179 runs from 273 deliveries. The innings consisted of 18 fours and one six. Chasing a target of 108 in the fourth innings of the game, B Sai Sudarshan gave a blistering start to his team. He scored 42 from just 20 deliveries. Tamil Nadu team chased a 100+ target in just seven overs on his debut.
