Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel has no doubt Erling Haaland will become a star after his stunning start at the club continued on Tuesday. Erling Braut Haaland has emerged as one of the best talents in Europe this season, having already scored 39 goals in 2019-20 to date.

Former RB Salzburg player, Haaland burst onto the scene at Red Bull Salzburg and has continued to break records during his first two months at Borussia Dortmund.

Axel Witsel told RMC Sport,

“He is a goalscorer, he is 19 years old, he is really a great talent. I think he will become a future crack,”

“He has a lot of room for improvement. We hope to keep him as long as possible with us, but it is clear that he will become a big one.”

Haaland scored either side of Neymar’s 75th-minute equaliser for PSG, which will host the second leg on March 11.

The Norweigan striker has been phenomenal in this season. Since joining the yellow side of Germany from RB Salzburg, the player has scored 11 goals in just 440 minutes on the pitch. The more interesting fact about the 11 goals in 13 shots.

Apart from that, the player holds the record of top scorer across the top five European leagues since his Borussia Dortmund debut.  One of the things which has caught the attention of all the clubs is, the player has more goals than Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

In the game against PSG, Haaland was touted to score the goal and make the difference for the German side. Apart from making the difference for his side by bragging a brace, he also equalled the record held by Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane who had scored 10+ goals in their first season in the European continental competition.

The Belgian international, Axel Witsel hailed Dortmund’s display at Signal Iduna Park, saying:

“It’s true, [an almost] perfect performance.

“In the end we had a great game, super well organised. I think that without the ball we were really aggressive, in the good sense of the term, on Neymar and [Kylian] Mbappe because they are players who can easily make the difference so we should not leave them too much space.

“And that’s really what we did, we played really well, we went against it a few times.

“I think that during the whole match we were much more dangerous than them, we didn’t leave them much.”

The French champions, Paris St-Germain have always struggled to go on in the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League. Though the  Qatari owner based club possesses a player of statures like Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Keylor Navas, they always struggle as we have seen in the past 2-3 seasons of football. In 2019-20 also, they are emulating it. Can Neymar and Mbappe avoid one more early knockout exit for the team or will PSG remain trophyless in Europe for one more season?
