Asia Cup hockey 2022: India hockey team beats host Indonesia 16-0; qualified for Super 4

In their final match of the Asia Cup 2022, the Indian men’s hockey team defeated Indonesia 16-0 at the GBK Sports Complex Hockey Stadium in Jakarta and qualified for the super 4s.

India needed to win with a margin of 15 goals to hurdle the arch-rivals Pakistan Hockey Team who were in the second place and make it to the next stage of the Asia cup 2022.

India hockey team‘s win over host Indonesia also means that the Pakistan hockey team is out of position to qualify for the next year’s Hockey world cup.

Looking at Pool A, Japan sits at the top of the table as they managed to beat both the India hockey team and the Pakistan Hockey team with three wins from three games. 

Meanwhile, Both India and Pakistan were on four points but with the better goal difference, India managed to grab the second spot in Pool A and Qualified for the Super 4s.

Pakistan is knocked out by India’s win and host Indonesia finished fourth, and both the teams are out of Hero Asia cup 2022.

The defending champs went on full berzerk on the host Indonesia. As India dominated the match from the very start. India’s Dipsan Tirkey score an amazing five goals and Sudev Belimagga scored three times for his side.

Veteran SV Sunil, Pawan Rajbhar, and Karthi Selvam scored two goals each while Uttam Singh and Nilam Sanjeep Xess scored each goal for the Indian hockey team to help them reach the Super 4s of the Hero Asia Cup 2022.
