AIFF welcomes FIFA’s decision to Postpone the Under-17 World Cup

The COVID-19 Pandemic has led to all the sporting activities come to a halt. Barring one or two tournaments, every sports tournament have been either banned or postponed.

Every Day one or two tournaments which was scheduled to take place in recent date get banned and now another important tournament, i,e., is Under 17 women’s World Cup has been called off.

AIFF(All India Football Federation) along with the Local Organizing Committee, has backed the decision of FIFA to postpone the under 17 world Cup considering the outbreak that this pandemic has brought in everyone’s life.

As the current situation in India does not permit to hold any sporting event here as safety for all the players from different countries along with support staff should be the priority.

“It was a big opportunity for us and we were hoping to organize this event this year in November but considering the outbreak, it will be very difficult to hold any events under these circumstances.”

Under 17 Women’s World Cup was scheduled to play in five Indian Cities-Let we tell you the names – Navi Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhubneshwar, Guwahati, and Ahmedabad.

Also, the FIFA working committee was working as they were looking at the possible outbreak solution and they postponed two world cup, the first one being Under 20 world cup in Costa Rica and then Under 17 world cup, which was scheduled to take place in India as holding a sports event is very difficult as most of the countries are in lockdown and people are practicing social distancing so it is important till the time there is no vaccination staying indoors is the best option.
