Achraf Hakimi, who is currently the Borussia Dortmund loanee said if the La Liga giant wants him to return at the end of the season he will surely go back to Real Madrid.

The Morocco international full-back has starred for the Bundesliga side and Achraf Hakimi had signed a two-season loan deal with Dortmund in 2018. Though not necessarily for a return to the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, the 21-year-old is set to leave Borussia Dortmund at season’s end anyway.

Achraf Hakimi, who has scored 10 goals during his time with Borussia Dortmund, talking to Telefoot,

“Real Madrid are the club I call home,”

“I’ve really enjoyed myself there and played lots of games there.

He also had the opinion that if Real Madrid doesn’t want him back at Bernabeu, he would find the shelter at another great European club. However, he was of the opinion to continue his game at the Spanish capital.

“If Madrid want me to go back, I’ll go back. And if not, I’ll have to write the next chapter at another great club.”

Achraf Hakimi also thanked the Los Blancos manager and former French international, Zinedine Zidane, for giving the chance to go out on loan and continue the first-team football. He said:

“[Madrid head coach Zinedine] Zidane is the man who gave me my chance and the confidence to be able to play professional football.

“I’m grateful to him for his faith in me and the way he has treated me. I’ll always be grateful to him.”

Reflecting on his own decision to move to Germany, Achraf Hakimi opined that it was the best decision by himself to develop himself as a footballer and better individual. He went on to add:

“When I stop and think, I realise that it was the best decision I could have made, because I’m playing and developing as a footballer, which is what I need to be doing.”

Achraf Hakimi and Borussia Dortmund are all set and are well in preparing for Wednesday’s Champions League last-16 return leg away to Paris Saint-Germain. Borussia Dortmund who had won the opening leg 2-1 must have all the thanks to Erling Braut Haaland’s second-half brace and Achraf Hakimi is eyeing silverware. The fixture will be played behind closed doors. Achraf Hakimi, who has scored seven goals in all competitions this season, said:

“I hope we can achieve as much as possible; in the short term beat PSG, and in the longer term try to win a trophy like the Bundesliga or go as far as possible in the Champions League,”

“Anything’s possible. Hopefully we can go as far as possible and win it if we can. And if not, then come away with the feeling that we’ve done well and given our all.”

Borussia Dortmund are just four points behind the league leaders Bayern Munich. The league is all set for an exciting finish if there are no there issues cropping up due to the coronavirus outbreak. Can Achraf Hakimi help the “Yellow Army” for the league title after Borussia Dortmund failed to withstand the nerve in the closing stages of the league in 2018-19?
