Aakash Chopra Bats for Rishabh Pant:- 2 flop innings and the troll army got under the skin of southpaw Rishabh Pant. The fans took to twitter to question his technique and temperament, and called him insensible. They even went on to question his position in the team.
The fans who have no inkling about international cricket asked him to go back in domestic cricket and polish his skills. Amid all the criticism, Aakash Chopra joined the discussion and defended Pant, reminding fans of his contribution as a wicketkeeper-batsman of the side over the past year or so.
He reminded that Rishabh Pant is the only wicket keeper to score a test century in England and Australia, and asked fans to persist with him and asked not to leave perspective of the fact that he is “Work in progress”.
Although, he slammed Pant for his poor shot selection and soft dismissals, and asked him to be more sensible.
He tweeted:
Not defending Pant….but think about it—Dhawan got dismissed twice in an identical fashion. Kohli missed out twice after getting set. Pandey missed out too. But the discussion is around Pant’s dismissals ONLY. So much attention on a young player can’t be good…. #WIvIND

Promise and potential will raise your hopes….understandable. His modes of dismissals aren’t conventional either. Discuss…debate….but don’t lose perspective of the fact the he is ‘work in progress’. And will be for some more time. #WIvIND

He’s the only Indian wicketkeeper. Yes ONLY wk to score a test century in England and Australia. So..the work in progress is worth persisting with. Thank You 🙏 https://t.co/5xj8gJObjF

With due respect sir…..there was a wicketkeeper playing for India every time India played a test match in England and Aus or anywhere else. We are talking about decades of test cricket. https://t.co/UElx6Z8kHg

He should be more sensible. No doubt about it. Must improve. Must make the most of the opportunities. My ONLY concern is the disproportionate attention he and his dismissals are getting. https://t.co/klHLS0nuJC
