Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been honoured with a life-size statue in Punjab at Ferozpur District Cricket Association’s Ground. The statue was unveiled by a local politician there. The state has been placed to honour the legendary all-rounders’ contribution to the Indian Cricket team.
Yuvraj Singh played for Punjab in Ranji Trophy and went to represent his home state in the Indian Premier League as well. Yuvraj stood to top ranks with his brilliant mix of batting, bowling and fielding skills. He played a very crucial role in India’s triumph in the inaugural T20 World Cup in South Africa.

He was also named as the man-of-the-series in 2011 ODI World Cup victory at home. He scored 362 runs, including a century against the West Indies in Chennai, and bagged 15 wickets. His contribution was very much important in the World Cup triumph after a long gap of 28 years.
Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is surely not the first to get a life-size statue. In 2013, a statue of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar was also unveiled in Bihar. Yuvraj Singh has openly accepted that he wanted the 2011 World Cup trophy to be dedicated to the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, to fulfil his life long desire. Yuvraj Singh did fire on all cylinders to make sure that he itches his name in the history books of the Indian cricket team.
It was during the World Cup in 2011 that it was discovered that Yuvraj Singh has been diagnosed with cancer, but the strong cricketer defeated his disease and made a comeback in the game of cricket. However, Yuvraj could not perform in the limited opportunities he got after his recovery and was soon replaced with young talents in the shortest format. Within a few months’ replacements were brought to full his gap in the ODI team as well.
Yuvraj has indeed had a brilliant and successful career in the blue jersey and his contribution can never be forgotten. The statue will always remind the local players to work hard, achieve more and repeat the story of Yuvraj Singh in the time to come.
