Yashasvi Jaiswal Becomes The Youngest Cricketer to Smash Double Ton

Mumbai teenager Yashasvi Jaiswal on Wednesday set a new record by becoming the youngest cricketer to score a double ton in List A cricket. This is his debut season at Vijay Hazare trophy and in the first season, the 17-year-old scored 203 off 154 balls against Jhakarkhand, notching runs against the likes of like Shahbaz Nadeem and Varun Aaron in the squad. His innings included 17 fours and 12 sixes, showcasing his domination on the pitch.

Jaiswal has been in the scintillating form of late. He scored 113 and 122 against Kerala and Goa respectively in the Vijay Hazare trophy. This is the only the ninth instance when a double-ton is registered in List A cricket.

A few days ago, Sanju Samson registered the highest individual score in Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored 212 not out for Kerala against Goa.

Yashavi innings of 203 helped Mumbai set a gigantic total of 359 against Jharkhand in the group A match of the Vijay Hazare trophy.

Yashasvi Jaiswal hails from Suriyawan, Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh and made his first-class debut in the 2018-19 Ranji trophy season for Mumbai, but rose to fame after he became the highest scorer at the Under 19 Asia Cup 2018 with 214 runs in 3 innings.

It hasn’t been an easy journey for Yashasvi Jaiswal in 2012. At a tender age of 11, he reached his uncle’s house at Mumbai to learn cricket. His uncle house wasn’t too big and this is the reason he had to spend several nights at his uncle’s diary. He later worked as a gol gappa vendor to earn his livelihood. His journey from Gol Gappa vendor to wearing Indian jersey is a dream coming true saga.

“Finding a place to stay was the hard part. I used to sleep in a dairy in Kalbadevi but they asked me to move out as I couldn’t help them much with the daily work. My parents requested my uncle to help me. I stayed at his place for a few days but it wasn’t big enough so he too had to ask me to find a different place,” Yashasvi told Hindustan Times.
