Who will be next leader of RCB in the upcoming edition of IPL 2022?

12th March is “D” day for RCB fans as they will be announcing the next leader of the franchise ahead of main event with several players like Faf Du Plesis, Dinesh Karthik and Glenn Maxwell is in the pipeline to become next leader of RCB.

Many fans have speculated Kohli can be back as leader of the side which seems unreal as the batting giant announced via a video ahead of IPL  2021 event that he will no longer be the leader of RCB from next season onwards.  But if reports are to believed Virat still has to submit the official resignation to RCB franchise as leader.

Also cryptic message from Kohli in latest RCB video posted on their official Twitter handle is another reason why fans are making all kind of assumptions about Kohli’s captaincy.

However all the assumptions will die down on 12th March 2022 but before diving attention towards Virat Kohli who is regarded as one of the stalwarts of the franchise and shifting attention towards other players Du plesis looks the front runner to lead the Bangalore based franchise as he had an experience of leading Proteas in the past.

Overall he has lead South Africa in 36 Tests, 39 ODIs and 40 T20Is where they won 18,28 and 25 matches respectively.

Dr Jacques Paul who served as the Acting CEO of Proteas in the past commented on Du Plesis captaincy “Faf’s record as player and captain speaks for itself” said.

Maxwell has an experience of leading Melbourne Stars in the past and taking about Dinesh Karthik  who had previous stint as leader with KKR but he was not able to deliver as batsman so eventually he was replaced with Eoin Morgan.

However a post from RCB recently where Du Plesis was shown as opening batter with Kohli clearly indicate that captaincy battle might be passed onto Du Plesis.
