All the blame game has started from the moment it was decided that the last Test match between India and England at Old Trafford Manchester has been cancelled after one more case arrived in India’s biosecure bubble with another Physiotherapist Yogesh Parmar has been tested positive with COVID-19.
Different media outlets have been reporting various reasons responsible for the cancellation of the last Test match which include Kohli and Shastri attending a book launch event in the mid of the series, Jarvo breaching security to enter inside the ground and IPL.
Many ex-cricketers and English media have highlighted that it is disappointing from India’s end to cancel the last Test match on the matchday should be reminded when Three Lions abandon the full series of South Africa where they don’t even bother to travel Proteas which resulted in huge loss to Cricket South Africa.
As the ongoing five-match series is currently poised at 2-1 with India leading at the moment and the last match has been cancelled it will be interesting to see that whether the last match will be organized next year or not.
As per the media reports, BCCI has instructed ECB to reschedule this last Test match next year where India will be travelling to England to play three ODI and three T20 International series.
ECB will have to take a call now about the last Test match and also it will be interesting to check whether that last Test match will fall under the ICC World Test Championship cycle or not.
India had a great chance of winning the Test series this year in 2021 and replicate the same performance of the 2007 series under the leadership of Rahul Dravid.
India will be next playing in IPL starting from September 19th 2021 followed by T20 World Cup and will be finishing this year with a series against South Africa.
India has been a brilliant side in the last 12 months after beating Australia in their backyard and retaining the Border-Gavaskar trophy and slowly and steadily they are capturing victories across SENA nations.
