West Ham defeats Watford by 3-1 in Premier League relegation battle

West Ham United registered a staggering victory over Watford by 3-1 at the London Stadium in the Premier League fixture on Saturday. 

The Hammers also made sure of playing in another season of the Premier League by saving themselves from the relegation round in a most crucial match. However, they also left Watford in trouble after by pushing them towards the relegation category. 

The match started off and in just the 6th minute, striker Michail Antonio struck by a low drive kick towards Watford goalkeeper Foster and netted a brilliant opening goal for the side. 

Just within four minutes, Hammers’ midfielder Tomas Soucek came into the picture as he was well assisted by Bowen with a cross pass towards him and he aimed a header towards the left of the goal, and subsequently doubling the lead for his side. 

The third magic for the Hammers was beautifully done by Declan Rice in the 36th minute of the match as he shot towards the bottom right from the 25 yards, taking his team’s score to 3-0. 

In between Watford were also hurt by midfielder Wil Hughes getting a yellow card, but that didn’t cause any bigger damage. The third goal of the match which went into Watford’s account was added by Troy Deeney. It was a brilliant team effort from Deeney and co. as he backheeled the ball to Welback, who flicked it towards Doucoure. Doucoure approached the ball and then passed the ball to Ogbonna.

They missed the first chance, but Deeney on his role of rebounding a bang on goal towards the right. The scores were 3-1 after the starting of the second half. 

Watford played really well during the second half but Hammers’ defence wasn’t submissive, as they didn’t leak a single goal towards the end.

After the win, West Ham United climbed to 15th place with 37 points while Watford went down to 17th place with just 34 points, just one loss short of relegation group.
