Watch: Yuvraj Singh On Sachin Tendulkar's Moving Gesture During His Cancer Treatment

Yuvraj Singh views Sachin Tendulkar as just not a cricketing hero but he also sees him as a “guardian angel” who can provide extraordinary guidance and advice in difficult situations, both on and off the pitch. One of Tendulkar’s closest pals in the Indian dressing room and a hero of two World Cup victories, Yuvraj Singh is one of India’s finest white ball players and views the legend as a life instructor.

“We had coaches when I played international cricket, but he was my ‘go-to’ man for any batting-related technical problems. Prior to the legend’s 50th birthday, Yuvraj, who is now on holiday in the UK, told PTI that the player wasn’t just his cricketing idol; he also offered solutions.

He acts as a guardian angel for me even beyond a distance of 22 yards. Paaji has always been one of the first people I have called in times of personal crisis or difficulty. He also always had the best life lessons and counsel to share with me, he said.

When he was experiencing worry during the 2011 World Cup, which he single-handedly won for India with more than 350 runs and 15 wickets, he recalled how Tendulkar helped him.

Even I was unaware that it was cancer. Sachin would frequently check on me and was always worried about my recovery when I was receiving treatment in the US.’

Even now, Yuvraj recalls the moment when he first ever met Tendulkar, and it was the illustrious Kapil Dev who introduced the young Yuvraj to Tendulkar.
