The Indian cricket community is inconsolable about the possibility that this would be MS Dhoni‘s final season playing in the Indian Premier competition (IPL). The captain of the Chennai Super Kings may not return to the T20 competition at all.
Sunil Gavaskar ran to Dhoni and grabbed an autograph on his shirt as millions of fans felt their heartbeats quicken as they watched him deliver a lap of honour to the Chepauk crowd following the game against Kolkata Knight Riders. The original Little Master has now expressed a sentimental yearning regarding the legendary MSD.

Gavaskar provided an explanation for his decision to obtain Dhoni’s signature in a video posted by Star Sports. The 1983 World Cup champion expressed a hope for his “final moments” that included MS Dhoni as well.
“I made the decision to make a unique memory.” the moment I learned of MS Dhoni’s lap of honour. I rushed towards MSD to get his signature for that reason. It was his final match at Chepauk. If CSK makes the playoffs, he will undoubtedly get an opportunity to play here. But I made the decision to cherish that time. I had the good fortune to find a marker pen in the camera unit. I appreciate them both, therefore I am grateful,” Gavaskar stated in the video.
“I went to Mahi and asked him to sign my shirt, which I was wearing, for me. He acknowledged it, which was really kind of him. Because of the enormous contributions this man has made to Indian cricket, it was a very emotional time for me, Gavaskar said.
