Ahead of the brand new season of the Indian Premier League, 4-time Champions Chennai Super Kings arranged a pre-tournament get together last night and introduced their new players they bought during the Mini-Auction last year. During the event, one of the best highlights was when CSK Captain MS Dhoni handed England’s T20 World cup winner Ben Stokes his Jersey.
Stokes is considered as the perfect successor for MSD and many reports have suggested that CSK management is exploring this option. For a fact, Stokes has been among the main men for the Three Lions. He has been very important behind England’s recent white-ball as well as Red-ball success.
He played a very important role behind England’s first-ever ICC Cricket Cup win in 2019, followed by a match saving knock in the Ashes. He is currently in-charge of England’s Test team along with head coach Brendon McCullum. Last year during the ICC T20 World cup 2022, Stokes was one of the key members of the English team which won its 2nd T20 title.
“I would like to welcome all the new players.” Mahendra Singh Dhoni said. Then he gave a special mention to Ben Stokes saying everyone knows him and he’s nothing new but he is new for CSK and moving forward he will play a valuable role. “You are not new but new for us.”
MS Dhoni will enter his 14th season wearing the yellow jersey where he has won the competition 4 times as the Captain. This season he has a good team in disposal and he will be aiming to equal Rohit Sharma’s record of 5-IPL titles and Dhoni is in need of just one.
Tonight reigning champions Gujarat Titans will welcome Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium from 7:30 Pm onwards. CSK are currently 2-0 down against GT during their meetings last season. Stay tuned for further updates!
