The wait is finally over. Captain Rohit Sharma will lead the team on a victory parade through Mumbai in an open-top bus. The specially decorated bus, emblazoned with the team’s T20 World Cup celebration photo, will start its journey at the National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA) and travel along Marine Drive for about 1.5 kilometers, culminating at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

The Wankhede Stadium is already packed with enthusiastic fans eagerly awaiting the team’s arrival. Chants of “Mumbai Cha Raja Rohit Sharma” fill the air, celebrating their local hero who led India to World Cup glory. Entry to the stadium is free, with gates opening at 4:00 PM to accommodate the massive crowd.

The cricket team has a jam-packed day ahead. After meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, they flew into Mumbai, where they will be felicitated at the Wankhede Stadium and then participate in the victory parade. Fans can witness the felicitation ceremony for free on a first-come, first-served basis.

Be advised that traffic restrictions are in place in South Mumbai due to the celebrations. Seven roads are closed entirely, and parking is prohibited on ten additional roads. It’s best to avoid these areas if possible, or plan your commute accordingly.

The team’s journey back to India wasn’t without its challenges. They were initially stranded in Barbados due to a hurricane but were eventually flown out on a special charter flight. After a long 16-hour journey, they arrived in Delhi on Thursday morning, where they were met with a rousing reception by fans and dignitaries.

Team India’s victory is a true testament to their resilience and determination. Despite facing unexpected obstacles, they emerged victorious, bringing home the coveted T20 World Cup trophy. Now, the entire nation celebrates their achievement, and Mumbai is at the heart of the festivities.
