Watch : Juventus Striker Dusan Vlahovic get racially abused by Atalanta fans during their Serie A tie!

Having defeating fellow Serie A contender Atalanta 2-0 on Sunday afternoon, whose supporters racially mocked Juventus’ striker Dusan Vlahovic. Juventus rose to second place in the standings. Samuel Iling-Junior of England’s youth scored 55 minutes into his maiden match in Italy’s premier division before Vlahovic sealed the victory in the last seconds of stoppage time by scoring his 10th club goal of a challenging season.

Despite having been called a “gipsy” and having the game briefly paused by referee Daniele Doveri, the Serbian attacker then provoked a part of the home crowd. Juve have at present a solid chance of qualifying for the Champions League the coming year as they are two points ahead of Lazio, who lost against AC Milan on Saturday.

The team led by Massimiliano Allegri is five points ahead of Milan in fifth position, but they need the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) to rule on potential illegal transfer activities if they are to advance to Europe’s top team tournament via league standing.

The FIGC’s appeals tribunal’s 15-point punishment of Juve in January was overturned last month by Italy’s top sporting courtroom, who must now issue a new ruling. Juventus will play Sevilla in the opening leg of their UEFA Europa League  semifinals on Thursday in Turin, and if they win, they will advance to the Champions League.

With Inter in the fourth spot & Atalanta in the Europa Conference League berth, Gian Piero Gasperini’s team’s prospects of finishing in the top 4 were harmed by their loss.

Gasperini made an attempt to minimize the racist taunts directed towards Vlahovic by Atalanta supporters by stating that there should be “a difference between insults directed at a particular person and an overall racist one.”
