Tushar Deshpande Introduction
Tushar Deshpande is one of the many cricketers who have spent their blossoming period at Mumbai’s famous Shivaji Park Gymkhana. A batch-mate of current Indian team stalwart Shreyas Iyer, Deshpande was always considered very highly in the domestic circuit because of the pace he generated. His career so far has been filled with numerous ups and downs.
Deshpande’s debut was a lucky one. He might not have made a name of himself as quickly as he did, had it not been for a national call up for Shardul Thakur. While he was lucky at the starting of his career, two injuries halted his progression. But he has crossed the hurdles in quite a fashion and had recently made it to the Duleep Trophy. In the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, he will be seen rolling his arm over for Delhi Capitals.

Tushar Deshpande Early Life
- Tushar Deshpande was born on May 15, 1995 at Mumbai, Maharashtra.
- He started his cricketing career at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana.
- He is Shreyas Iyer’s batch-mate.
- His mentors were Padmakar Shivalkar and Sandesh Kawle.
- Deshpande got the limelight on him when he picked up 21 wickets in the Cooch Behar Trophy.
- As a young cricketer, Deshpande used to overstep a lot. He bowled an approximate of eight no balls per innings.
- Dale Steyn has been Deshpande’s idol since he started playing cricket.
- In his cricketing journey, Deshpande always received the support of his parents.

Tushar Deshpande Domestic Career
- Deshpande’s brilliant spells in the Cooch Behar Trophy helped him get a call up from the Mumbai side.
- His first T20 game was against Odisha on 1st April, 2015. The match was played at Cuttack. In the Group B tie of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he bowled two overs for 19 runs. He didn’t get any wicket on his debut.
- He made his first-class debut at the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy on 6 October 2016. His debut was lucky, as Shardul Thakur was the favourite to play that game. However, with Thakur getting a call up from India, Deshpande got his shot at glory.
- He injured his ankles in a quarter-final clash against Hyderabad. He broke his ankle bone, and a new bone had come up.
- Even before he could recover from that injury, he had a grade 2 stress reaction on his quadriceps.
- He made his List A debut on September 19, 2018, against Baroda at Alur. This was at the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He bowled 8 overs and conceded 51 runs. He also took the wicket of Aditya Waghmore.
Tushar Deshpande Achievements
- He picked up a 4-wicket haul in his very first first-class game.
- He was named as one of the top eight players to look out for in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, by ESPN Cricinfo.
- He took a 5-wicket haul in the quarter-final of the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
