Trent Boult and Tom Latham injured, doubt on their inclusion in squads against India

The Black-caps suffered another major setback after the humiliating series defeat against the Kangaroos. The New Zealand team might miss Trent Boult and Tom Latham in the squad against India. Both the players are in doubt after suffering knocks in the recently concluded series against their neighbors.

Trent Boult also missed the third test of the series against Australia after enduring a knock on his right hand. A ball from Mitchell Starc rose awkwardly to hit the strike bowler on his hand, and the blow resulted in a fracture on his right hand. Gary Stead, the New Zealand coach, said that Boult would be ‘touch and go available’ for the T20 series against India.

Stead gave a statement to press on Wednesday. He said “Boult has been resting his broken right-hand and will return to bowling later this week,”

He further added, “He’ll be touch-and-go to be available for the Indian T20 series later this month, and we’ll continue to monitor him closely over the next few weeks.”

The concerns for the New Zealand team increased after Tom Latham injure his little finger while taking the catch of Marnus Labuschagne.

The cricket board of New Zealand issued a statement on the fitness concerns of Latham. The board stated, “An X-ray has confirmed a fractured finger for Tom Latham. He will require approximately four weeks of rehabilitation after the fracture to his right pinky finger,”

Tom Latham is the latest name in the long list of injuries New Zealand is suffering. The New Zealand team now has the trio of speedsters Matt Henry, Trent Boult, and Lockie Ferguson on the treatment table in addition to Latham.

The Kiwis suffered significant humiliation in the test series against Australia. The team lost the series 3-0. They will now host the Men in Blue on their turf. The Indian team will play 5 T20 International against New Zealand. The Indian tour in mark it’s beginning on 24th January. Three ODIs and two tests will follow the T20Is.
