The 14th match of the Hundred Mens Competition 2023, between Birmingham Phoenix, and Welsh Fire was a bit one-sided in the second innings of the match. It was a completely low-scoring match because the crowd was able to see only 228 runs in the match. It was Birmingham Phoenix who batted first and set the target for the opponents, but Welsh Fire was certainly having a different strategy to cope with the target.

The Highlight of the Match:

Birmingham Phoenix Innings 

  • It was Birmingham Phoenix who batted first, and they were ready to start with a good opening stand. Smeed and Duckett ensured that they both go on to get a fine-opening partnership. Birmingham got a 30-run start, and Will Smeed got out on 10 runs. 
  • The start was really slow, as they scored 30 runs on 29 balls. Soon, the wickets started falling, and the RPO was also not very impressive. After the 46th ball, the score was 53-3. 
  • Livingstone tried his best to lift the RPO, but his effort of 28 runs on 20 balls, with one six went in vain. 
  • By the time Livingstone got out the score was 103-5, and now only the last 14 balls were left. 
  • In the last 14 balls, only 9 runs were scored, and the final total of the team was 112-7. 

Welsh Fire Innings 

  • The Welsh Fire were ready to chase the target of 113 runs in 100 balls. They got a brilliant start of 67 on only 32 balls. It was mainly because of quick 43-run innings on 18 balls. 
  • By the time Joe Clarke got out, the score was 71-2, and soon the wicket of Luke Wells fell at the team score of 73-3. 
  • In the end, Captain Tom Abell and David Willey took the responsibility of finishing the game. Welsh scored 116 runs only on 85 balls. 

It was an important win for Welsh Fire, and the team has reached the number 3 spot in the points table of the Hundred Mens Competition 2023.
