The Hundred Mens Competition 2023: Manchester Originals vs Birmingham Phoenix

The Hundred Mens Competition is becoming more and more exciting with every hundred balls game. Manchester Originals went on to win yesterday’s match by 49 runs. That is certainly a big margin, and it shows that they are certainly one of the teams in this tournament. Manchester Originals bowled so well, that the Birmingham Phoenix was not even able to play all the 100 balls of their innings.

Manchester Originals

• Manchester Originals batted first, and they had the plan of setting a big score on the board. However, they got the first blow, on the 4th ball of the innings, as Salt got out on a score of 2 runs only. 
• However, Jos Butler and Laurie Evans made sure that they both make a good partnership for the team. They had a fine partnership of 48 runs, but on the 37th ball of the match, Evans got out on the score of 21. 
• Butler played well, but he got out on the score of 43 runs. However, later on, Overton and Mir, ensured that they both made a food partnership for the team. They took the score to 151 runs. 
• In the end, the final total of the team was 160-8. 

Birmingham Phoenix innings

• Smeed and Duckett tried hard to give a good opening stand, but they were able to give only 20 runs in the opening partnership. 
• Once the score was 21-3, Livingstone and Smith ensured that they added a few runs together. They took the score to 54 through their combination. 
• However, in the end, due to a lack of partnerships, the teams were not able to get a good total in the end. 
• At the score of 111, Phoenix got all out, and they were not able to get close to the target. 

This match has placed the Manchester Originals in 2nd place in the points table. Now they have to ensure that they reach the top, and stay there, to qualify for the first stage.
