Suryakumar Yadav nominated for the ICC T20I Cricketer of the year

In a recent development, one of India’s most in form and unconventional Batsmen, Suryakumar Yadav has been nominated for the ICC T20I Cricketer of 2022. The top-order Batter had a wonderful year wearing the Dark blue jersey. He was also one of the key members of the Indian team that reached the Semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.

Suryakumar Yadav scored more than 1000 runs in a calendar year in the game’s shortest format thanks to a brilliant 2022, making him just the second batter to do so. He finished the year with the most runs scored, 1164 runs with an absurd strike rate of 187.43.

His total of 68 sixes in T20Is during the year is far and by the most anyone has ever scored in a calendar year. The fact that Yadav’s average was in the mid-40s speaks to how consistently he performed in the format. Yadav was the best men’s T20I batter in the year with two hundreds and nine half-centuries.

During the T20 World cup, the 32-year-old played 6 matches, scored 3 half-centuries with an outrageous average of 60 alongside a daunting strike rate of 189.68. After India’s disappointing exit from the WC, “SKY” scored his second T20I century against New Zealand.

England’s Sam Curran, Zimbabwe’s Sikander Raza and Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan are also among the 4 players nominated for the individual annual award.
