Steve Smith and Travis Head Heroics Put Australia in Commanding Position

Steve Smith

The WTC final is going on, and excitement from the fans was expected. On day 1 of the match, India took the commanding position, by getting 3 wickets of the Australian team, only on the score of 76. However, as it was expected, Steve Smith was there to save Australia and this time Travis Head was also there to support him.

Smith and Head, both went on to get a big partnership, and that certainly changed the direction of the game and put the Australian team in the Commanding position.

Partnership Between Smith and Head:

Currently, while writing this article, day 2 of the match is going on, and the score is 151-5. This clearly shows that the partnership has done its job. You can see the details of the 285 runs below.

285 runs partnership:

  • This partnership has broken a number of records. One of those records was the 93 years old record of Bradman, which was his batting average. Now Steve Smith is having a better batting average of 102.40 in tests, at the KIA Oval.
  • The 285 runs stand by Steve Smith and Travis Head is the highest 4th wicket partnership at Oval. They have broken the previous partnership record of 266 runs by Wally Hammond, and Stan Warthington.
  • Among the individual records, Steve Smith has now leveled the record of Joe Root. That means he has joined the record of the most number of centuries against India in test cricket. That is 9 centuries
  • At the same time, Travis Head became the first batsman in the world to score a century in the WTC final. This is certainly something that no one can take away from him.

So, it is only day 3 of the final, and so many records have been made, or broken. No doubt, before the end of the test match, several other events are going to take place.
