Former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar who is always known for his outspoken nature on social media recently revealed the reason behind Azam poor show with the bat in the ongoing Test series against Zimbabwe.
Azam in no time has placed his name in the list of top batsmen who are currently playing International cricket.
Talking about the match, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first and losing opener Imran Butt cheaply didn’t impact their score as for the second wicket a mammoth partnership was built between Abid Ali and Azhar Ali.
Akhtar said both Abid and Azhar batted for so long which might have tired Azam when he came to bat and his form with the bat in the red ball cricket after becoming skipper is an alarming sign for ace cricketer who has scored only 124 runs at an average of 20.66 with one fifty.
Akhtar believes that the star player will quickly regain his form as he takes his batting seriously.
“Worrying point is again Babar Azam because he is not scoring runs. Against this (Zimbabwe) team, he had to wait for his turn because first opener and then Azhar Ali played long innings. Babar has to wear his pads and be ready during that time, which is the best and worst part of Test cricket. You have to sit and watch with concentration. and you can’t talk much as well. So, basically, you are in quarantine within a quarantine,” Akhtar said on PTV Sports.
However, Akhtar believed that Babar should have scored 300-400 runs but the latter will be disappointed for sure.
“Babar should have scored at least 300-400 runs during this series, Sometimes it happens that you can’t score runs, but I’m sure Babar is trying his best. We expect a lot from him, so we should try to stay positive,” said Akhtar.
