Shreyasi Singh is an Indian politician and shooter who was born on August 29, of the year 1991. Shreyasi takes part in the double trap competition. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, Shreyasi earned a gold medal in shooting for women’s double trap, and at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, Shreyasi won a silver. Shreyasi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the year 2020 and represents the Jamui constituency in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

Early Life and Education

Both Shreyasi’s grandfather Kumar Serender Singh and father Digvijay Singh, served as the NRA of India’s presidents. Shreyasi is a native of the Rajput Caste and is from Gidhaur in the Jamui district of Bihar.  Shreyasi’s father was a former minister of the union. Shreyasi Singh was raised by Putul Kumari, a former Bihar legislator from Banka. At Hansraj College in Delhi, Shreyasi studied arts, and at Manav Rachna International University in Faridabad, she studied business administration.

Sports Career

Shreyasi Singh competed for her country India in the Trap Shooting World Cup of the year 2013, which took place in Acapulco, Mexico. Shreyasi Singh took home the 15th spot there.

Shreyasi Singh participated in both the singles and pair trap competitions at the Delhi Commonwealth Games of the year 2010. Shreyasi Singh placed fifth in the pair trap event and sixth in the solo trap event. Shreyasi Singh achieved 92 points in the final to take home the silver medal in the singles double trap event at the Commonwealth Games of the year 2014 in Glasgow. Along with Shagun Chowdhary and Varsha Varman, Shreyasi Singh won the bronze medal in the double trap team event at the Asian Games of the year 2014 in the city of Incheon. Shreyasi Singh represented her birth place i.e. Bihar and took home the gold medal at the 61st National Shooting Championship in the year 2017.

Indian Political Career

Shreyasi Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the year 2020 when she was just 30 years old and ran successfully in the Bihar Legislative Assembly election of the year 2020 from Jamui (Vidhan Sabha constituency), defeating Vijay Prakash of the RJD by a margin of more than 41000 votes.
