India has been a shooting powerhouse in Asia for many years, and the country has consistently won medals at the Asian Games. India has bagged a total of 58 overall medals, including 9 Gold medals, 21 Silver medals and 28 Bronze medals in Shoiting discipline.

Some of India’s most successful shooters at the Asian Games include:

Jaspal Rana: Rana is a former world champion and has won a total of 8 medals at the Asian Games, including 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. He is considered as one of the greatest shooters India has ever produced.

Abhinav Bindra: Bindra is the only Indian shooter to have won an Olympic gold medal. He won the gold medal in the 10m air rifle event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He has also won 3 medals at the Asian Games, including 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals.


Saurabh Chaudhary: Chaudhary is a rising star in Indian shooting. He won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol event at the 2018 Asian Games at the age of 16, making him the youngest Indian shooter to win a gold medal at the Asian Games. He has also won multiple gold medals at ISSF World cup.

Rahi Sarnobat: Sarnobat is another young shooter who is making waves in Indian shooting. She won the gold medal in the 25m pistol event at the 2018 Asian Games. 

India’s future in shooting

India is well-positioned to continue its success in shooting at future Asian Games. The country has a strong pool of young shooters who are already making their mark on the international stage. With continued support and training, these shooters have the potential to win many more medals for India in the years to come.

The 2023 Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China. India will be looking to improve on its performance in the 2018 Asian Games and win even more medals in shooting.
