Shiva Thapa is an Indian boxer from Guwahati, Assam, who was born to Nepali origin father Padam Thapa, who was a karate instructor in Guwahaati. In the year 2012 he became the youngest Indian to qualify for the Olympics. He is trained at the Pune-based Army Sports Institute and is supported by Olympic Gold quest and Angelian media hunt company, a company that identifies new talent and nurture them for bigger competitions.
He is currently ranked third at the AIBA World Boxing championships and is the only third Indian to win gold at the Asian games. He is currently an Account manager at the Midland credit management.
Shiva draws inspiration from Mike Tyson, he was only 7 when boxing but bite him and out of desperation the young lad first practiced at his living room.

Shiva Thapa is the youngest of all the six siblings born to Padam Thapa, his elder brother Govind Thapa is also a state level boxer. According to the legend Shiva use to wake up early at 3:00 AM to practice and balance time between studies and sports.
His father was a street food vendor and arranging fees for Shiva training was hard, but when things looked impossible, Olympic gold quest, a non-profit organization decided to support the boxer and ensured a monthly expenditure of ₹30,000 on Shiva. And rest as we say is history.

Shiva Thapa showed keen interest in boxing at the young age of 7 and started practicing boxing in his living room. His father realized about the potential and class of his son and ensured that he gets full-fledged training. It wasn’t easy for Shiva’s father as expenditures were easily surpassing the income. The financial hurricane settled when the boxer was supported by Olympic Gold Quest as a 2016 vision plat to nurture raw talent.

Shiva Thapa was the first Indian boxer to book Rio 2016 Olympics berth and was the only third Indian to win a medal (bronze ) at the AIBA World Boxing championship in 2015. He is also the youngest to win a gold medal at the Asian Confederation Boxing Championship at Amman, Jordan in July 2013.
