Security issues again popped up in Pakistan as the series between Men in Green and Black Caps have been canceled

Pakistan Cricket Board in the last few years have worked hard for regaining their image for calling International teams to tour in their country and the recent dent on their image has been blown in the form of New Zealand decided not to complete Pakistan tour due to security issues on the matchday itself.

As it will impact Pakistan’s image to a great extent and England were suppose to tour Pakistan on 9^th October 2021  under the leadership of Eoin Morgan might not tour Pakistan now and it can also impact their chances of hosting PSL too in their own country.

The news related to the cancellation of the tour was officially confirmed by New Zealand Cricket Board where they stated that we have tried convincing NZ security officials to complete the tour but they have decided to not complete the tour.

“Following an escalation in the New Zealand Government threat levels for Pakistan and advice from NZC security advisors on the ground, it has been decided the Blackcaps will not continue with the tour. Arrangements are now being made for the team’s departure,” a press release from New Zealand Cricket stated.

NZC Chief executive David White confirmed that it wasn’t possible for us to complete the tour despite the advice he was receiving.

“I understand this will be a blow for the PCB, who have been wonderful hosts, but player safety is paramount and we believe this is the only responsible option.”

In response, a PCB statement clarified that the New Zealand team “have been satisfied with security arrangements made by the Pakistan Government throughout their stay here.”

“PCB is willing to continue the scheduled matches. However, cricket lovers in Pakistan and around the world will be disappointed by this last-minute withdrawal,” it added.

As no countries decided to tour Pakistan after an attack was planted on Sri Lanka players in Lahore in 2009 but within a year several countries including Zimbabwe, South Africa toured Pakistan but the cancellation of this tour will dent Pakistan’s image at world level for sure. There were few responses on Twitter where experts criticize NZ for canceling the tour at the last moment.

Huge news this, about New Zealand pulling out of their tour of Pakistan and heading back home. Feel for cricket lovers in Pakistan but since this is because of a perceived security threat, it will impact other teams touring there too
