Scott Edwards

Australian-Dutch cricket player Scott Edwards (born August 23, 1996) plays for the Netherlands. On November 29, 2017, in the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Namibia, Scott Edwards made his first-class debut for the Netherlands. In the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship match against Namibia, Scott Andrew Edwards made his List A debut for the Netherlands on December 8, 2017. After Pieter Seelaar was forced to retire from international cricket owing to a chronic back injury in the month of June of the year 2022, Scott Andrew Edwards was appointed as the team’s new captain. The Netherlands’ eighth One Day International (ODI) captain is Scott Edwards.

Edwards was enrolled at Deakin University in the year 2022 to pursue a Bachelor of Business (Sport Management).

Early Career

Edwards was raised in Australia but was born in Tonga, where his father was employed at the time. Due to his Dutch grandmother, Scott Edwards is eligible for Dutch citizenship and is a dual citizen of Australia and the Netherlands. Scott Edwards had played club cricket in Australia for Blackburn South Cricket Club and Highton Cricket Club before joining Richmond in the Victorian Premier Cricket league. With Excelsior ’20, Scott Andrew Edwards plays club cricket in the Netherlands. Edwards was close to former Australian wicket-keeper Ryan Campbell during this time; Campbell went on to lead the Netherlands Cricket Team as its head coach in the year 2017. Before starting to play cricket professionally, Scott Edwards was an electrical trainee. 

International Career

In the year 2018, Edwards made his Twenty 20 International (T20I) and One Day International (ODI) debuts for the Netherlands in the 2018 Netherlands Tri-Nation Series against Ireland and Nepal. Scott Andrew Edwards also set a world record for the fastest T10 century and highest individual T10 score in the 2019 European Cricket League. Edwards was named captain of the Netherlands A team in April 2020 and captain of the Netherlands A team in the month of September of the year 2021. In the month of July of the year 2022, the Netherlands defeated the United States of America (USA) in the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier, advancing them to Round 1 of the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
