The video shows Babar visibly irritated by a large group of fans who surrounded him on the streets. Despite being accompanied by security personnel, the constant requests for selfies and meet-ups appeared to overwhelm the cricketer.

“Do minutes doge? Sar par nahi chado” (Give me two minutes, don’t touch my head), Babar can be heard saying to the fans in frustration, before requesting security to remove them.

However, the situation reportedly calmed down soon after, with Babar Azam eventually agreeing to take pictures with the fans.

Pakistan’s Chaotic T20 World Cup Build-Up

This incident comes amidst a somewhat turbulent period for the Pakistan cricket team leading up to the T20 World Cup. Just three months before the tournament, Babar Azam took over the captaincy from Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Their preparation hasn’t been smooth sailing either. A drawn 2-2 T20I series against a depleted New Zealand side at home was followed by a mixed showing in Ireland. Pakistan lost the opening match but managed to clinch the series 2-1.

Pakistan’s T20 World Cup Group and Schedule

In the T20 World Cup, Pakistan finds itself in Group A alongside arch-rivals India, co-hosts United States, Canada, and Ireland. The top two teams from this group will progress to the Super Eight stage, which will be held in the West Indies. The tournament culminates in the final on June 29th in Barbados.

The incident in Cardiff highlights the fine line that athletes often walk when it comes to fan interaction. While fan support is undoubtedly a source of motivation for players, maintaining personal space can also be crucial. It’s important for fans to respect boundaries and avoid overwhelming players, especially during their downtime.

Pakistan will be hoping to put this minor hiccup behind them and focus on their upcoming matches against England. With the T20 World Cup approaching, they will need to find their rhythm and form a strong unit to challenge for the coveted trophy.
