Renuka Singh bags ICC Women's Emerging player of 2022

After the news of all the franchise owners for the Women’s IPL came out, Indian Women’s cricket received another boost during the ICC individual awards. Indian young pacer Renuka Singh bagged home the award after an outstanding end to 2022.

She produced many match winning performance with the ball and has been one of India’s main bowlers last year. The 26-year-old edged out competition against the likes Australian Darcie Brown, England’s Alice Capsey and fellow Indian bowler Yashika Bhatia.

Her performance in a jam-packed year of 2022 has earned her a starting spot in the national side. Renuka’s outstanding awareness as bowler will help India in near future. She has great ability when it comes to swing the ball and also has good knowledge and execution of line and length.

It looks as if she has already filled the void left by experienced Jhulan Goswami. In 29 ODI and T20I matches combined, Renuka amassed 40 wickets. In the shortest format, Renuka played 7 matches and took 89 wickets.

With the inaugural Women’s premier league scheduled to begin from February, it will give her much more experience in International cricket as well. Indian Women’s cricket has a very bright future and many more individual and team accolades are yet to come.
