The Club has also appeared in major European competitions like the UEFA Cup, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup.
HISTORY
Red Star was founded 74 years ago on 4th March 1945 a couple of months after WWII. As the club from the start adopted the symbol of Yugoslavia, the club gained millions of fans very quickly.
The club won three consecutive national cups between 1948 and 1950 and stepped into a golden era. The team under the partnership of Rajko Mitic and Bora Kostic won five Championships and two National cups.
After a series of successful domestic wins, the club also made its presence felt internationally after reaching the 1957 European Cup semi-final and 1958 semi-final.
In 1991, the club clinched their first European Cup by defeating Olympique in finals, but after the breakdown of Yugoslavia in 1992, the club’s dream to spread dominance over the European football shattered.
Despite failing to perform internationally, the club won seven championships and twelve national cups in the domestic region.
Club Ownership
The ownership of Yellow-Red is currently in the hands of the Serbian sports club FK Crvena Zvezda which the Football Club is a part of. Apart from Football, the club also promotes 29 different sports.
