Happy Birthday Sachin Tendulkar: Recalling Tendulkar’s six stellar knocks in International cricket

Sachin Tendulkar has scored 51 centuries for India in the test format along with 49 hundred for India in ODI format.

It is not easy to be consistent for 24 years despite several carriers threatening injuries. In his illustrious career, Sachin overcame all odds and scored 100 international hundreds which itself is a huge feet.

Sachin received a lot of criticism while he was playing for India that he was a selfish player, he played for himself and every time he was criticized, he was quiet and just focussed on his batting and gave answers to all his haters through his bat by scoring runs.

The best thing about Sachin was he never sledged any bowler. Instead, he just batted and scored numerous runs for India as you might not know what was going inside his head but through his sheer power and determination all he was saying to the naysayers was  “Please go and check my stats and the number of runs that I scored for my country”.

We should not forget he kept on pushing himself as he knew that if India has to win the world cup. It’s him that needs to stand out. So despite finishing in losing cause for five times in the world cup.

He was more determined to win the world cup for India and “Don’t forget Sachin is not the only person who celebrated world cup winning moments it was the entire nation who celebrated the world cup victory as  Indian team finished the drought of winning the cup after 28 years since 1983″

There have been several moments in cricket where through his amazing knocks he has changed the dynamics of the game. Let’s dive into that one by one.

1. 141 v Pakistan at Rawalpindi, 2004: Sachin scored 141 runs off just 135 balls and Pakistan managed a win by just 12 runs. Tendulkar was named Man of the Match though he expressed his displeasure of India losing the match.

2  118 v Pakistan at Sharjah, 1996: Sachin scored a magnificent 118 in a match where India crossed the 300 runs mark for the first time in ODIs.

3. 84 v N. Zealand, Eden Park Auckland, 1994: Sachin became opening batsman for the first time in his career and the Eden Park Auckland witnessed the batsman knocking off 82 runs from just 43 balls. His score included 15 fours and two sixes. He later described it as a dream inning.

Sachin was also adjudged the man of the match. The spinning prowess fo Kumble and V Raju too helped India to bowl out Australia for 168.

5. 98 v Pakistan at Centurion, 2003: Sachin himself has described this as his best inning. India was chasing a total of 273 runs and Sachin managed to score 98 off just 75 balls. The master blaster was hitting fours to bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar, Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram with the six to Akhtar later being called as the best shot of the tournament.

6. 200 v South Africa at Gwalior, 2010: Sachin became the first batsman to score a double century in One Day Internationals. He achieved this feat from just 147 balls.

The former Indian cricket team captain holds the record for the number of runs in ODI as well as Test as well as the only cricketer to complete more than 30,000 runs in international cricket. Here are ten best innings by Sachin Tendulkar.

The most twisting moment came in his life when his father passed away in 1999 and he was shocked and could not believe that this tragic moment happened to him.

Sachin considered his father as his biggest inspiration and the death of his father shattered him to the core. After attending the funeral ceremony of his father he went to play for India again.

As he scored 140 not out against Kenya on May 23rd, 1999 in the world cup match as India was in trouble and they needed Tendulkar back in the squad and after scoring century he looked up in the sky which he revealed during his retirement that every time I looked at the sky after scoring century it’s my father up there I was looking to. This was my way of offering sincere gratitude to my father.

On his 47th Birthday, we wish Sachin a healthy and happy life and we wish that he continues to inspire all the young cricketers out there.
