PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo on the radar of top European clubs

You must have heard about Norwegian goal scoring sensation Erling Haaland who has a goal ratio of 1.79 goals per 90 minutes and already has 17 goals in just 11 Premier League outings. 949 kilometers away from the Norwegian’s land is a Dutch forward named Cody Gakpo who has been making a lot of news this season because of his performances.

Cody Gakpo Stats

The Dutchman is not just a prolific goalscorer but his stats suggest that he has a great sense of playmaking. Last season, Gakpo bagged 12 goals and 13 assists in 27 Eredivise appearances for PSV Eindhoven. He finished the season with 21 goals and 15 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

However, the 23-year-old’s performance has been truly phenomenal as he scored 9 goals and provided the same number of assists in just 11 Dutch top-flight outings. In Europe too, Gakpo has has scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists in 5 UEFA Europa League appearances. He is being heavily linked with some top European.

Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal and Leeds eyeing a move for Cody Gakpo

Cody Gakpo’s number last season and this season until now have raised the eyebrows of some top clubs across all leagues. According to reports, clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old’s progress.

During this year’s summer transfer window, Leeds United were very close to signing him on deadline day but the move eventually failed. Another Premier League outfit Southampton were also interested but it is highly unlikely that Gakpo would consider moving to a mid-table English side.

Reports are also suggesting that PSV Eindhoven would be forced to trade the Dutchman to boost their financial woes and accept any offer around 30 Million Euros next January. Cody Gakpo will be looking to break into the Netherlands playing XI during the FIFA World Cup next month due to his extraordinary performance.

English Premier League side Manchester United are reportedly on the hunt for signing the 23-year-old Dutchman and apparently Gakpo is interested for a move away from Holland. Star striker Cristiano Ronaldo will most probably leave Old trafford next season and it will leave the door open for manager Erik ten Hag to sign him.

He usually operates from left wing but has the capability of playing in all three positions up front. He is a tall guy and can easily take on players and make space for himself to find the back of the net. We will be getting clarity regarding his situation in 2 months as the January transfer window will see a tussle between clubs to acquire Cody Gakpo’s services.
