U Mumba Pro Kabaddi League Season 7: U Mumba, a franchise from Maharashtra has been one of the better teams in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League. They were the most consistent team in the initial seasons of the tournament as they played three consecutive finals from Pro Kabaddi Season 1 to Season 3 and lifted the coveted Pro Kabaddi League trophy in Season 2. However, there has been a slide in U Mumba’s form since which saw them failing to reach the playoffs in Season 4 and Season 5.

What U Mumba did in Season 6?

U Mumba was continually in the news for their consistent performances in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 6. Riding the success of then debutant Siddharth Desai and their skipper Fazel Atrachali, U Mumba reached the playoffs stage in Season 6.

How did the U Mumba fare in the Auctions?

Prior to the auction, the season two winners U Mumba retained their skipper Fazel Atrachali along with youngsters such as Arjun Deshwal, Surinder Singh, Gaurav Kumar, and Rajguru Subramaniam.

Surprisingly, U Mumba did not retain Siddharth Desai, who was their star performer last season as he had led the offensive charge of U Mumba single-handedly. He also took home the ‘Best Debutant’ award from the season and the decision of not retaining came back to haunt U Mumba badly in the auctions as they couldn’t even use their FBM card with the bid reaching the sky.

U Mumba Pro Kabaddi League Season 7U Mumba shelled out a mammoth ₹89 Lakhs to acquire the services of Sandeep Narwal, one of the leading all-rounders in Pro Kabaddi League. The Mumbai-based franchise used its two ‘Final Bid Match’ cards to re-procure the services of Abhishek Singh for ₹10 Lakhs and Rohit Baliyan for ₹35 Lakhs in the auction and added much-needed firepower to their raiding department.

Strengths:
The defensive unit of U Mumba certainly is their biggest strength in Season 6. With Fazel Atrachali and Sandeep Narwal who are best in the business occupying the corner positions. U Mumba’s defense is looking in the right space and the addition of Surinder Singh adds further steel.

Weaknesses:
With the lack of good quality raiders who can strike big, the raiding department of U Mumba is looking toothless. The lack of superstars and experience in the raiding unit of U Mumba may trouble them in Season 7. The bench strength in defense would also be a cause of concern.

How does U Mumba look?
Not good.

The dependable names in the squad only include star defender and the skipper Fazel Atrachali and all-rounder Sandeep Narwal. The rest of the U Mumba team lack experience and leadership abilities.

What to Expect from U Mumba in Season 7?

For U Mumba, once again the onus will be on their defensive unit if they have to reach the playoffs. They have one of the weakest raiding units in the league, but if their young guns could perform as per their potential, then U Mumba can spring the surprises in Season 7.
