Former India captain MS Dhoni and his future are in the news ever since he made himself unavailable. Even there were speculations of his retirement as well. However, the Madan Lal-led Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) was asked a common question for the potential national selectors: “What will be your call on Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s future with the Indian team?”

Five potential members –Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, Venkatesh Prasad, Rajesh Chauhan, Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh was asked a common question on MS Dhoni, who has not featured in any of the game since the ICC 50-over World Cup semifinal loss to New Zealand in July in the UK. However, the former captain is all set to lead Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming Indian Premier League which will begin from March 29.

“Yes, the CAC had one common question and that was about their call with regards to Mahendra Singh Dhoni and whether they will select him for T20 World Cup,” a senior BCCI official said to PTI.

Meanwhile, Joshi and Harvinder have been appointed the two new selectors in the five-member panel. It is understood that the new BCCI panel wants the selection committee to have an idea about MS Dhoni and his international future as well.

“Dhoni is both a sensitive and tricky issue and that’s why the question needed to be asked,” the source further added.

Alongside this, a few members were also asked whether they are trying for the chairman’s post only or they would love to become just a selector.

While Sivaramakrishnan was considered as a strong candidate, it is understood that CAC was not sure if he is ready to take up the job as a selector under the chairman. As per Madan Lal, Joshi did not have any problem working with anyone else at the post.

“We liked his straight forward attitude,” Madan Lal said after the interviews in Mumbai recently.

As far as MS Dhoni is concerned, he has already started practising in the nets in Chennai and all set to look for another title win for the franchise in the cash-rich tournament in the upcoming season.
