“Petrol khatam hogaya tha” : Mohammad Shami after ending up with figures of 4/11!

Senior Indian pacer Mohammad Shami registered his career Best stats in IPL as he bowled a fiery spell filled with swing and pace. He also picked up a wicket in the first ball by dismissing Phil Salt in the 1st innings. In his entire quota of 4 overs, Shami gave away just 11 runs and later mentioned that by sticking to his plans he was able to contribute for his side.

But his side could not chase down a total of 131 which is achievable as per Gujarat Titans’ standards. Captain Hardik Pandya took the ownership and said his slow batting rate took the game away from them. Shami himself stated that GT batters should have played the first 6 overs well to get the grip on the match and also claimed that they lacked just one good partnership.

Meanwhile during the 1st innings when Shami was done bowling his spell within the first 8 overs, he was asked if he would want to bowl once again. “Nahi Nahi, petrol khatam ho chuka hai”. It actually meant that Shami has done his job by carrying out an emphatic spell of 4/11.

He was also adjudged as the man of the match for the same but he stated that the Batters should have complimented his bowling but he was positive about the loss and said these type of matches can happen and they will come back better.

It was an extremely exciting contest between them and it went right down the wire. The game got even more exciting in the last 2 overs of GT’s chase. Anrich Nortje after conceding 1 run in the first 3 balls, ended up going for 3 sixes in a row in the following deliveries by none other than Rahul Tewatia.

Then in the penultimate over, veteran Indian Ishant Sharma took the ownership and guided his towards a 5-run victory. His last 6 deliveries included a wicket of an upswing Tewatia and leaked just 7 runs.
