Paul Collingwood likely to become interim head coach of England after Chris Silverwood departure: Reports

Paul Collingwood

Former England skipper Paul Collingwood is likely to become interim head coach of England after departure of regular coach Chris Silverwood who was sacked from his role after three Lions dismal performance against Australia in recently concluded Ashes where they lost the series by 0-4.

Collingwood is associated with the team for quite some time now and it will not be a challenge for him to take up the role of Interim Head Coach.

He was also interim head coach of England who played recently concluded series against West Indies which they lost by close margin of 2-3.

Andrew Strauss

With Andrew Strauss appointed as the new interim director of ECB and Collingwood to take over as Interim Head Coach clearly indicates that ECB is looking to rebuild their side especially in the longest format of the game.

Chris Silverwood after his departure from the national side talked about his experience of coaching England national side in detail where he talked about fans expectation and demand of sport  in the longest facet of the game.

“It’s been an absolute honour to be England Head Coach, and I’m extremely proud to have worked alongside our players and staff. I want to thank them all for the hard work and commitment they have given during my time in the role and I wish them all the very best moving forward,” said Silverwood as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

“The last two years have been very demanding but I have really enjoyed my time with the team and working with Rooty (Joe Root) and Morgs (Eoin Morgan), and I am very proud of this group considering the challenges. I leave with fond memories and I am now looking forward to spending some quality time at home with my family and embracing the next chapter,” he added.

England cricket team has persisted with skipper Joe Root in the longest format of the game despite debacle in recently concluded Ashes and he will be expected now to deliver in the coming games otherwise you never know his position as leader might come in trouble.
