Suhas Yathiraj and Sukant Kadam both booked their places in the men’s singles SL4 event and ensured at least one medal for the country before Rubina added a bronze to India’s tally.
It was a disappointing day for the country in archery as star players Sheetal Devi and Sarita Kumari bowed out after losing in the round of 16 and quarter-final matches respectively. Indian fans will be heartbroken by this defeat.

Sheetal Devi has lost in a close match. She was a strong contender for a medal in the Paris Paralympics 2024. She lost to Mariana Zuniga of Chile by 138-137.
India faced a disappointment in archery at the Paris Paralympics on Saturday as Sarita Kumari’s brilliant performance ended in the quarterfinals. 9th-seeded Sarita of Faridabad dominated the first and second rounds, but top-seeded Turkey’s Oznur Cure Girdi had her dream run halted in the last eight.
Oznur had set a world record in the qualifying round with 704 points out of 720. She scored three perfect 10s against Sarita after the second round to take a good 5-point lead. Oznur scored 30 in the second round. Sarita made a huge lead of five points after scoring 10 points. Sarita made a comeback with five shots of 10 points each in the third and fourth rounds but she remained four points away from Oznur.
Another medal for India has been confirmed in Para-Badminton. Suhas Yathiraj will face Sukant Kadam in the men’s singles SL4 semi-finals. One of these two will reach the finals, which means one medal for India. The match between Suhas and Sukant will take place tomorrow.
