Paris Paralympics 2024: For the first time 2 Indians finished on the podium, Avani Lekhara won gold

Indian shooters Avani Lekhara and Mona Agarwal created history by opening India’s account in the Paris Paralympics 2024. While Avani Lekhara won the gold medal, Mona Agarwal won the bronze medal. This is the first time in the Paralympics that two Indian players have climbed the same podium.

Indian women shooters Avani Lekhara and Mona Agarwal performed brilliantly in the 10m air pistol SH1 category event at the Paris Paralympics and won gold and bronze medals respectively.

Today in the final match, Avni created a new record in Paralympic shooting and scored 249.7 to win the gold medal. There was tough competition between South Korea’s Lee Unri and Avni. Avni scored 10.5 on the last shot. Whereas the Korean shooter scored 6.8 on the last shot. With this, Avni won the gold medal.

Yunri had to settle for the silver medal with a score of 246.8. Mona Agarwal scored 228.7 to win the bronze medal. With this, Avni has become the first Indian female athlete to win two medals at the Paralympics.

Earlier, Indian shooters Avani Lekhara and Mona Agarwal made it to the finals of the 10m air pistol SH1 category event at the Paris Paralympics on Friday by performing brilliantly. In the match played here today, Avani finished second with a score of 625.8 and Mona Agarwal entered the finals by finishing fifth with a score of 623.1. Ukraine’s Shchetnik finished first with 627.5 points. In the final match, a total of eight shooters qualified for the final in this category.
