Overseas Players to watch out for in IPL Auction 2023 in detail

As soon as the T20 World Cup 2022 got over, the hype for the most dominant and successful domestic league in the world, Indian Premier League begun. The upcoming edition of the IPL in 2023 will be its 16th edition with the league spreading to 10 teams since the past edition. By now, we have seen some trading, some shocking releases, some big retirements and now it’s time for the ultimate showdown before the actual cricket takes place. We are very close to the day where franchises use of all their might, in terms of money, to build a good squad who can win them the prestigious IPL Trophy. Yes, we are talking about the IPL Auction 2023 which is to take place in Kochi on 23rd December, 2022. Here, we will have a look at five overseas players who can attract a lot of buyers in the Auction.

  1. Cameron Green (Australia)

According to me, this player from Australia is going to be the most expensive player in IPL Auction 2023. He will attract a lot of interest towards him because of what he brings to the table. A batting all-rounder who can open the innings, play attacking role in the middle overs and can finish well too. He can bat in all the phases of the game and I would not say a bank but he is good wicket-taking option for any captain and on most days will give at least 2-3 good overs with the ball. He has the knack of bowling 140+ kmph regularly. A very active and energetic player in the field having a safe pair of hands. The thing which excites most about him is his passion and dedication for the game. At such an early stage in his career, he has already won many games for Australia and looks set for a bright future. He showed us glimpses of what he can do in the India vs Australia T20I series and I think he will go for more than INR 15 crores in the Auction.

Left-arm seamers are an absolute pearl to the game of cricket and this time in the IPL Auction, they are going to attract a lot of franchises towards them. And if that left-arm seamer is the Man of the Tournament of recently concluded T20 World Cup, it is icing on the cake. We are talking about Sam Curran, who I think can be a X-factor player in whatever team he goes. He is a death overs specialist, can bowl good slower balls and is a wicket taking option during any phase of the game. Though, he has previously opened the innings for many franchises in the IPL, I can think he is a batsman who has good finishing abilities and can attract a lot of bidding wars towards him. He has consistently performed well in the shorter format, has a good amount of experience and is in top form lately.

Now, we are going to talk about the player who needs no introduction. You say the name and matches such as Headingly test, 2019 World Cup Final, 2022 T20 World Cup Final start coming to your mind. He has not been that great of an IPL player but we all know what he can do when the going gets tough. He is player who performs in all the dimensions of the game and is a very good leader. Teams who are looking for a captain can really see him as an option and I think he won’t disappoint. He has been a noticeable figure in IPL Auctions with always being among the most expensive players and will be on that list this time around too. He is a player who can change the direction of game within an over with the bat or even with the ball and can be an asset to any franchise.

Leg-spinners always tend to attract franchises towards them because of the skill set they bring to the T20 format. During the past 8-10 years, leg-spinners have evolved as the most important part of any team that is playing T20 cricket. Since, there are not a lot of wrist spinners in the auction pool, Adam Zampa is one player who will go for big bucks in the auction. There are many teams who lack a quality wrist spinner and know the importance of having one in the team. Zampa is a bowler who has a lot of international experience and also plays in T20 leagues around the world. He will surely be among the most expensive players this time as he has that ability to be economical as well as take wickets at crucial junctures of the game. He can also help nurture the young domestic spinners around him by sharing his experience and cricketing wisdom.

  1. Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe)

How come the franchises won’t be interested in a player who single handedly made his country reach the T20 World Cup Super-12 stage and even did some upsets on the way? They obviously will be. I think he can be a surprise package for many teams in the IPL and play the role of a X-factor perfectly. We saw him perform at the T20 World Cup and he was an absolute beast there. A really solid batsman who can hit big shots at his will and a 4-over bank who gives 1 or 2 wickets every match. He is a player who has made Zimbabwe rise again as a cricketing nation and can set the IPL Stage on fire. He has showcased his abilities in domestic T20 leagues around the world and.
