The Oval Invincibles Women pulled off a thrilling victory against the Trent Rockets Women by 3 runs in the 2023 The Hundred Women’s Competition on Monday.

The Invincibles, who were put in to bat first, posted a challenging total of 155 for 6 on the back of a brilliant half-century from Nadine de Klerk (51 off 25 balls). Klerk was well supported by Alice Capsey (35 off 24 balls) and Cordelia Griffith (23 off 16 balls).
The Rockets bowlers, led by Gordon (2 for 19), fought hard but they were unable to stop the Invincibles from reaching a competitive total.
In reply, the Rockets got off to a good start, with Lizelle Lee (61 off 33 balls) and Nat Sciver (21 off 17 balls) paying a major contribution to their teams. However, the Invincibles bowlers then struck back, taking wickets at regular intervals to restrict the Rockets to 152 for 8.
The pick of the bowlers for the Invincibles was Sophia Smale, who took 2 for 26 in her 20-ball spell. Their other bowlers collectively paid their contribution to restrict Rockets before the target. Marizanne Kapp took 1 wicket for 27, while the trio of Nadine de Klerk, Eva Gray and Page Scholefield came ahead to share 1 wicket each. Their collective contribution restricted the Rockets three runs before the target.
The win takes the Invincibles the same fifth spot, while the Rockets remain in fourth place.
