But needing six off the last delivery, they looked to have fallen short when Matt Critchley only drove Sam Curran down the ground for one. The win leaves the Invincibles top of the table with two games to play, and they can no longer be caught by the Spirit or Manchester Originals.

The Invincibles’ victory was set up by brilliant innings from opener Will Jacks, who scored 68 off 42 balls. Jacks hit 5 boundaries and 4 sixes in a blistering display that takes him to the top of the tournament’s run-scoring charts.

Jason Roy also contributed with 23, while Sam Curran (35) and Heinrich Klaasen (46 not out) provided valuable late runs. For the Spirit, Rossington was the only batsman to shine, but he was unable to get his team over the line.

The Invincibles’ win was their fourth in a row and they are now firm favourites to win the tournament. They will be looking to continue their momentum when they take on the Southern Brave.
