Only Women’s doubles to represent India in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics

Indian Tennis certainly needs more singles player coming up the ranks especially in the marquee event like Olympics as the only pair who will be taking part in this year Olympics will be Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina.

The world number 9 doubles ace player will be pairing up with talented Ankita Raina to ensure India do well in upcoming Olympics.

Recently Sania and Ankita are playing Wimbledon and their next journey will be Tokyo 2020.

India’s top 2 male double tennis player including the likes of Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan failed to make cut for Olympics starting from July 23rd 2021.

Bopanna and Sharan who are currently ranked 38 and 75 and their ranks combined would be 113 which is pretty low as per the latest ATP rankings which plays an instrumental role in determining Tokyo’s eligibility.

Bopana and Sharan together have achieved lot of success in the past including 2018 Asian Games gold medal. However Bopana is currently playing with Mirza in the ongoing Wimbledon in mixed doubles event where they have qualified for the second round.

The experience of Sania along with young Raina in International circuit will have to bring their A game in the upcoming marquee event. Tokyo Olympics 2020 will be conducted in a safe and secure bio secure bubble and no fans from outside of Tokyo is allowed to witness any sporting event.
