One Legged Soldier is India’s Blade-Jumper at Para Asian Games
You must have heard many inspirational stories, but there are some real stories that are tough to be believed. One of them is the story of Someswara Rao (a participant in Para Asian Games). Rao lost his leg during a landmine accident at Uri.
Someswara Rao was completely depressed after losing his leg in the Uri sector of J&K. He was so down that he made an attempt to commit suicide. He went to the bathroom with a blade in his hand to take his life away. But right at that time, he received a call that gave him a new life.

A call from Mother
Only a few seconds before making the attempt to kill himself, Rao received a call from his Mother. The time he heard the voice of his Mother, he started crying. After some time, he fainted, and he was in and out of the ICU for the next 10 days.

A meeting with Lt Colonel Gaurav Dutta changes Rao’s life
Rao made a promise to himself that he is never going to think in a negative manner. However, time and again memories of losing his leg came into his mind. Soon, he got a chance to meet Lt Colonel Gaurav Dutta, which completely transformed his life.
He met Lt Dutta in the Artificial Limb center, and soon Rao took the Track and field.
Lt Colonel Gaurav Dutta has played an important role in setting up Army’s Paralympics Node (APN). It was set up in 2017. From 22nd to 28th October Indian participants are going to perform in the Para Asian Games. They are going to have a huge responsibility on their shoulders to fulfill the dreams of many Indian fans.
Rao has been an important contributor in the defense. And now he is starting a new journey as a sportsperson. Thanks to his Mother and Lt Colonel Gaurav Dutta, who kept him motivated.
