Chelsea downed Norwich City by 1-0 in a Premier League game as the side’s forward Olivier Giroud scored the only goal of the match at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

The underwhelming Chelsea were hungry for a goal throughout the first half and failed on several opportunities. But Frank Lampard’s men were relentless despite all those missing chances as they continued to shuffle the ball beyond the midline.

Ever since Olivier Giroud joined the team back in 2018, the team has been relying on him for scoring goals and even in this match, he was the one breaking through the deadlock just before the half-time to provide his side with the must-needed lead.

Giroud scored in his third consecutive match in the Premier League ever since he did that with Arsenal back in January 2017. He also helped his side win five back to back Premier League matches at home for the first time 2019.

Christian Pulisic built the momentum for the hosts as he cut through the stern defence of the visitors and formed a brilliant opportunity for Giroud for scoring a superb goal.

The Man of the match, Giroud reacted after the win by vowing that he won’t sit back and his hunger for more win would continue.

“It was important to score before halftime but we should have scored more goals. We had a lot of possession. I think the team was a bit under pressure because we needed the win. Our determination to do well tonight was very high but the most important was the three points.” Giroud said.

With this win, Chelsea (63 points) also strengthened their hopes of remaining in the top four of the Premier League by outscoring the Leicester City (59 points)  by 4 points. Lampard’s men have now climbed to the third place and nine points behind the Manchester City.

Chelsea now faces Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday, while the Norwich City will play against Burnley on Saturday.
