No South African player except Imran Tahir to play in CPL 2020

The Caribbean Premier League is all set to begin from August 18 in Trinidad and Tobago next month. As per the reports, no South African cricketer except Imran Tahir will play in the upcoming season of CPL.

Some players including Rassie van der Dussen, Tabraiz Shamsi, Anrich Nortje, Rilee Rossouw, and Colin Ingram play in the CPL but none of them has confirmed their travelling date and further details for the CPL 2020 and hence their participation in the tournament seems unlikely.

However, on the other hand, only Imran Tahir has confirmed his joining in the upcoming season of the CPL as reported by ESPNCricinfo.

As per the reports, the CPL organizers had asked all the players to arrive in Trinidad and Tobago by August 1 so they could also serve the mandatory 14-day quarantine time before participating in the tournament from August 18.

Cricket South Africa has so far given no clearance to the players as the country is still under the lockdown but they have given the  No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to the players to play in the IPL in UAE this year which will bein from September 19 while the finals will be played on November 8.

The schedule of the Caribbean Premier League is also out as the first match will be played between Trinbago Knight Riders v Guyana Amazon Warriors on August and the finals will take place September 10.
